Billy Swinson is a mandolinist / singer / songwriter that performs with regional bluegrass bands in the Florida scene. Originally from Eastern North Carolina with roots in bluegrass festivals and fiddler’s conventions in the late 80’s and later a member of various bands in the area where he met and performed with some tremendously talented musicians.
In 2003, Billy moved to Florida and quickly got back in the mix with the regional bands and the festival scene and after years of interaction with bluegrass community, collaborated with some artists to produce an album that will be sure to satisfy the listener. His collection of songs has elements of americana, roots, gospel, traditional bluegrass, jam-grass as well as the fan favorite title track of the album, Greener Grass, which is a powerhouse driving tune that you won’t want to miss.

New River Gospel
In the early 90’s I was with a group called New River Gospel out of Richlands, NC

Part Time
Later in the mid 90’s the group Part Time was formed with band leader Eric Strange on guitar and lead & tenor vocals. Kevin Fisher was on bass, A.C. Davis on banjo. This group was based out of Jacksonville, NC and performed at the Eastern N.C. and Coast N.C. Bluegrass Association Events.
Code Blue
This group started as a combination of two as A.C. Davis from Part Time switched over to bass guitar and we joined with Jimmy Fraley on Banjo (who later played with A Deeper Shade of Blue for 20 years) and Greg Martin on acoustic guitar (who now plays bass with Billy Droze)
Timber Ridge
This was a configuration out of Jacksonville, NC that we had circa 1999

The Donna Hughes Band
Donna had a couple projects under her belt around the turn of the millennium and I was able to share the stage many time with this great artist and the talented musicians that were in this group.













Constant Change
Around 2001, this band formed with a more regional cast of musicians from Eastern N.C.

























The Florida State Bluegrass Band
After moving to Florida I met Ernie Evans and have had the opportunity to perform with him with the Florida State Bluegrass Band. He and Debi Evans now leads Evans Media Source bringing great entertainment & festivals to the area.
